Can I use only baking soda and peroxide?
Yes, as a milder brightener. It is weaker on grease and hard-water dinginess than washing soda + peroxide or sodium percarbonate.
Is washing soda the same as baking soda?
No. Washing soda is sodium carbonate (higher pH). Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. Do not swap them 1:1 and expect the same result.
Will this ruin my HE washer?
The powder version is low-suds. Add it to the drum. Don’t dump huge scoops into the detergent drawer.
Can I add essential oils?
A few drops in the dry powder only, mixed until dry. Oils can spot some fabrics if you overdo them.
Why didn’t my stain come out?
Wrong water temperature, not enough time, overload, oil stain that needed dish soap first, or a stain that already went through the dryer. Repeat the soak before you escalate.
Can I use this on colored clothes?
Often yes on colorfast washable items. Test first. Keep it off anything you cannot afford to fade.

- Buy washing soda.
- Buy sodium percarbonate if you want a real jar of homemade OxiClean.
- Mix 1 cup washing soda + ½ cup sodium percarbonate + ½ cup baking soda.
- Use 2 tablespoons per load in warm water.
- Soak stubborn whites.
- Never mix with chlorine bleach.
Make one jar this week. Run your dingiest white towels through a warm soak-and-wash. That load is usually the moment people stop restocking the branded tub.
